Porter Health Care System Presents Dove Real Beauty Workshop

Porter-Dove-Real-Beauty-2016To help empower and build the confidence of young girls, Porter Health Care System will present the Dove Real Beauty Workshop from 9 a.m. to Noon Saturday, August 13 in the Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East US Highway 6 in Valparaiso.

The free education seminar – for girls ages 8 to 12 and their moms or female adult mentors – explores body image and how society shapes the feelings of young girls with a presentation on puberty’s physical and emotional changes.

Kylee Grieger, a Porter R.N. in Labor & Delivery, and Cardiologist Dr. Maya Kommineni will discuss the importance of proper nutrition and building a healthy body image.

The Dove campaign for Real Beauty is a global effort launched in 2004 to serve as a starting point for societal change and act as a catalyst for widening the definition and discussion of beauty. The campaign supports Dove’s mission to make more women feel beautiful everyday by widening stereotypical views of beauty through thought-provoking ads, confidence building programs and messages that embrace all definitions of beauty.

Pre-registration for the Dove Real Beauty Workshop is required. To register, call 1-800-541-1861 or click here.
