Thomas Kia of Highland Keeping Repeat Customers Happy as the Dealership Continues its Growth

“Basically, we just have a very caring sales staff. When you come in here it's’ a little different than a normal dealership. Most of the time it’s a very intimidating thing and here we try to be as welcoming as we can. Our goal is to help you find a car that you love,” said Seely.

Thomas Kia of Highland has been a leader in Indiana for some time, as they were the first Kia dealership in the state, starting over 20 years ago. Now, they’re the number one Kia dealership in Northwest Indiana, tripling their sales on new and used vehicles in the last three and a half years. They also have the largest new Kia inventory in Northwest Indiana, meaning their selection makes it more likely for you to find a car you love.

“We have the best service department in Northwest Indiana for Kia’s. We’ve tripled the staff, tripled the parts inventory, tripled the amount of service customers, and the number of vehicles available,” said Seely.

During all this growth, keeping the customers happy is still important. Thomas Kia of Highland understands that good customer service is what brings customers back and keeps them referring new customers. Getting someone in the door and making it an entertaining process, instead of an intimidating one, is part of the culture.

“We’re fun and we’re happy and like to have a good time. There’s a lot of excitement, we have a lot of giveaways and free refreshments for our service and sales customers. We have monthly potluck dinners for the entire dealership and their customers,” said Seely.

Thomas Kia of Highland also boasts a friendly, family orientated staff. Every member of the Thomas Kia family is dedicated to making the car buying experience simple and enjoyable for the customer. They know that treating others well is key in keeping dedicated customers.

“We’re all family people just like everyone else and if you live your life right and do what’s right, good things pay off,” said Seely.

In their effort to better serve customers, they also have bilingual staff members and can speak Spanish, Arabic, and Hindi languages. The dealership also focuses on community involvement, believing that their core values should focus on supporting the community which has made their success possible.

“We sponsor community teams and events, so people look at us as a little bit more of a caring dealership,” said Seely.

The dealership works every day to instill good values in its staff to ensure they are focused on the customer experience. Sales growth doesn’t drive itself, but good values and customer satisfaction does.
