In order to help keep dollars in Duneland, the Chesterton/Duneland Chamber is working to comprise a listing of 'Market Day Deals', members offering discounts available on days the European Market is open for shoppers. For example, if Lucrezia would like to offer market shoppers 10% off their lunch and/or dinner on European Market Days, we will comprise a coupon listing for our shoppers for all members wishing to participate. We also distribute a map at the Market, so don't hesitate if you are not a member directly located in the downtown: people will travel for deals! Westchester Public Library Managing Your Digital Photos - May 4 1:00-4:00pm Wednesday
“Bits and Bytes” will continue at Westchester Public Library with “Managing Your Digital Photos”. The class will take place in the Bertha Wood room on the second floor of Thomas Library, 200 W. Indiana Avenue, Chesterton. Registration is required and is available by calling or visiting the Automation/Serials Department or by visiting the Bits and Bytes page on the library’s website, http://www.wpl.lib.in.us/. Attendees will learn the basics of importing and exporting digital photographs, editing photos, and resizing photos, plus fun things to do. IU Health La Porte Free Bereavement Support Group Series - May 4—May 25 5:00-6:30pm
Every Wednesday Indiana University Health La Porte VNA Services will host a free bereavement support group series for the public. “Moving from Grief to Hope and Healing” will be held every Wednesday from May 4 to May 25. All meetings will be held at the First Church of God, 2020 E. Lincolnway in La Porte. Those who have experienced a recent loss or those who are unable to work through their grief are welcome to attend. The support group focuses on the grieving process and offers the support of others undergoing a similar experience. The support group is free and registration is required. Indiana University Northwest Chick-Fil-A LeaderCast - May 6 7:30am-3:30pm Friday
Indiana University Northwest is hosting the Chick-fil-A Leadercast on the IUN campus for the first time this year. Broadcast live from Atlanta, Voices of Change will be simulcast across the country, including locations at Hawthorn Hall. Light breakfast items and lunch will be provided. Individual tickets are $69, groups of 10 or more are $59 per ticket, and students are $35. Porter County Community Foundation Porter County Chamber Coalition Luncheon May 19 12:00pm RSVP by May 13
Homelessness in Porter County, what does it cost our community? An important part of understanding homelessness and housing issues in Porter County and gathering innovative ideas is to engage experts and leaders in the community. The effectiveness of a plan to end homelessness depends on the involvement and ownership of people and organizations like you. The Visiting Nurse Association of Porter County will present 'Ways Seniors Can Avoid Becoming A Victim' at locations in Lake and Porter counties in May. This informational program will provide attendees with knowledge regarding ways criminals are currently stealing 'personal identity' information, what those criminals are doing with the stolen information and ways the attendees can protect themselves from identity theft. Steps to take should you become the victim of identity theft will also be discussed.
