REGIONAL Federal Credit Union Hosts Networking Opportunity, Gives Insight into Involvement with Regional Community

REGIONAL Federal Credit Union, has a dedication to providing personal services to its members and throughout its existence, the company has forged a strong relationship within the Northwest Indiana community.

During September, the credit union hosted a special networking event in their Portage location across from Al’s Supermarket, designed for members as a Business After Hours event,. The event brought together representatives for many local businesses and organizations with food, drinks, door prizes, and opportunities for members to learn about what the others were doing.

Several key community members were in attendance, along with REGIONAL Federal Credit Union CEO Jill Banning, who spoke with many in attendance about REGIONAL’s encouragement for employees to get out in the community and volunteer. She is pictured to the right in the large group picture, along with REGIONAL employees, Portage Chamber Staff and other Chamber members.

With over 25 years in business in Northwest Indiana, REGIONAL Federal Credit Union employees 50 people across its five Northwest Indiana locations. There is a directive from the company, top to bottom, that employees should be heavily involved with organizations serving the community, and it really shows.

Kevin Kosek, Director of Business Development at REGIONAL FCU, has lived in the Valparaiso area for six years with his wife Krista, a schoolteacher in Thomas Jefferson Middle School’s sixth grade. After participating actively for a number of years, Kevin is also now President of the Morning Kiwanis group in Valparaiso.

“We have a couple really cool events coming up,” Kevin told me at the Stay Connected meeting. “We’ve got the 5K ramble in mid-October, and all of the area Kiwanis Club’s are involved with a great Trick or Treat event at County Line Orchard near Halloween.

REGIONAL FCU hosts and sponsors several events all year long involving various areas in the community, and the company strongly supports their employees being involved in various community groups to connect with the people they serve.

One great event REGIONAL supports is the local Choc-o-Lots event. In its first year, they had 200 samples from 23 vendors. Boone Grove High School culinary students came with three tables full of chocolate that REGIONAL purchased. The $5 ticket raised $1,800 for Riley’s Children’s Hospital. In its second year, they expect to have 34 vendors and boost their fundraising goals.
