A Letter From the New Indiana Secretary of Commerce

IEDCLogoAs your newest Indiana Secretary of Commerce, perhaps it's best to begin with a brief introduction, along with a few assurances about continuing the legacy of building a stronger Hoosier State through encouraging job creation and economic growth.

Having spent the last 17 years working in the manufacturing and engineering sectors in California, it is wonderful to be returning to my home state of Indiana. Most exciting for me is the opportunity to work with some of the top economic developers in the nation and to experience first-hand what it's like for local and state agencies, public and the private sectors, and companies and communities to all work together toward long-lasting solutions that benefit everyone at the table. We didn't have that level of collaborative spirit in California.

Every state in the nation has its eye on the Hoosier State, and they all want to know what Indiana has done to become one of the top five states for business in nation. Governor Pence selected me as Secretary of Commerce to build on Indiana's phenomenal strength and stability.

We're here to continue the Hoosier State's legacy as one of the most sought-after locations for business in the nation, and as our predecessors did, we're counting on all of you to help us build an even stronger Indiana.

Victor Smith
