CENTURY 21 Alliance Group is Always Making Positive Connections

Nick-Sommer-C21-Alliance-GroupRight down the street from the ValpoLife office resides a business that takes Life in Northwest Indiana seriously. CENTURY 21 Alliance Group of Valparaiso is a full-service brokerage firm that does a lot more than connect people with their future home. Nick Sommer, a real estate and commercial broker and owner of CENTURY 21 Alliance Group told me what the business was all about.

“We are a full-service residential and commercial company based in Valparaiso that operates primarily in Lake, Porter, Jasper, and La Porte counties,” Sommer said. “We work with buyers and sellers in the real estate market and connect them.”

CENTURY 21 Alliance Group was formed in 1998 in Chesterton, IN. After three years, the Valparaiso location was created. The entire operation was then moved to Valparaiso and that’s where it resides today.

A typical day for Sommer starts at 5am. He hits the gym, watches the news, and then starts work at his home office. There he organizes paperwork, prepares for appointments, pays bills for the office, and other work duties. Afterward he travels to the actual office on Campbell Street and then get paperwork ready for clients and putting lists together for cold calls to drum up new business.

“My favorite part about the job is going to all corners of Northwest Indiana and meeting people in all different businesses and hearing their story and being able to help them,” Sommer said. “We serve an important purpose. We basically put people together. Let’s say there’s someone new that comes to the area, for example. We’re that conduit to the neighborhood. We know plumbers, carpenters, electricians, repairman; we know every resource when it comes to a home that a homeowner would need. Good realtors are connectors. We know everything about this community.”

This process seems to have worked because CENTURY 21 Alliance Group has received CENTURY 21’s Quality Service Award for seven years in a row. That’s nothing to take lightly. Add on to that all the community involvement that they are in. They work with the United Way, Lakeshore PAWS, Porter County Community Foundation, the various churches and school.

“Anything where we can help people is a good idea. There’s this universal law that says that when you give, in some way and at some time you receive. If you’re going to be part of the community, you have to take part in the community,” Sommer said.

How does one make a business successful?

“It takes a lot of work. Smart work. You have to always be thinking about ways that will best propel your business. You are thinking about and prioritizing things for your business on a daily and hourly basis. Also, discipline. And if you’re not enjoying what you do then it won’t work. I like my job. It’s fun,” Sommer said. “I’m the type of person that can’t sit still, so if you’re going to do something think about how you can do it to make something a little better at the end of the day.”

So for all your home owning needs as well as a lot of other needs, make CENTURY 21 Alliance Group your first stop. They will take care of you because they care about you and the community around you.
