Chamber Needs Votes at Annual Meeting

annual-meeting-voteOn Wednesday, January 22, 2014, the Duneland Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Meeting & Board Installation - a gathering which serves to recognize the hard work of outgoing board members, welcome new 2014 board members, and celebrate the achievements of the past year. In addition, the Chamber will hold a vote to amend its bylaws – an action which requires voting participation from a significant number of Duneland Chamber of Commerce members. The event will be held at Waterbird Banquet Center, located at 556 Indian Boundary Road in Chesterton, Indiana. Registration will begin at 11:00 am.

"We're hoping to welcome a very large number of our members to the vote and Annual Meeting on January 22," says Heather Ennis, the Chamber's Executive Director. "We need to have a certain number of our members present for the amendments to be accepted, but we recognize the fact that not everyone will be able to stay for the entire luncheon. We decided the best way to structure this event was to hold a brief verbal vote between 11:30 am – 11:45 am. After we all vote, those who wish to stay for lunch and the rest of the meeting can stick around, while those who need to slip back to work can do so."

All proposed amendments to the Chamber's bylaws will be mailed in print format to members prior to the January 22 meeting. "The amendments are being introduced in the interest of streamlining processes, introducing efficiencies and augmenting the effectiveness of our office," says Ennis. "There's nothing dramatic in the edits – just practical updates to documents that were drafted prior to the advent of many of the electronic tools that we now enjoy."

Chamber staff and board members wish to thank their members in advance for their participation in the vote on January 22. Registrations may be submitted by calling the Chamber at 219.926.5513, visiting www.dunelandchamber.org, or emailing info@dunelandchamber.org. There is no ticket required to vote, though RSVPs are required (either in advance or at the door) so that Chamber staff can report on event attendance. Following the verbal vote, those wishing to stay for lunch and the Annual Meeting & 2014 Board Installation will be welcomed to do so. RSVPs are required for this portion of the event, as well, for catering purposes. Tickets for lunch are $20 per chamber member ($22 if invoiced) and $24 for community members.
