Getting Stuff Done at Third Coast Spice Cafe

Speed-Networking-2014-3Bright and early on Tuesday morning, a large group gathered at Third Coast Spice Cafe in Chesterton, IN. The smell of fresh coffee wafted throughout the restaurant and mixed easily with the sound of happy chatter that came from a very long table.

It was the Duneland Chamber of Commerce'sSpeed Networking event. Businesses could come and get quick networking in and increase their contacts in just three minutes!

Speed-Networking-2014-2"This is our Dawn of Duneland event, which we do quarterly,"Maura Durham, Executive Director for the Duneland Chamber of Commerce said. "This gives everyone a chance to meet other businesses. They sit across from each other and they get three minutes to talk about their businesses. It's been great! We see a lot of new faces. Every event that we do attracts a different crowd so it's nice to see a group of 20 to 25 people come to this on a quarterly basis to meet. And you really get to know a lot about a business in three minutes."

Those three minutes were used wisely as everyone talked about their companies, asked questions about other businesses, and passed along contact information and business cards. When time was up, a timer (which came in the form of a knife tapped lightly on a glass) chimed and one side of the table rose and moved one seat to the right. This gave everyone the opportunity to speak to all who attended.

Speed-Networking-2014-1Third Coast Spice Cafe looked like it was a perfect to get some networking in on a sunny morning.

"David has been awesome. He has been a member for a long time between Third Coast and Lemon Tree Mediterranean Grill. We thought that this was a fitting place to be," Durham said.

"I love this because you get a little snippet of everyone's perspective about what they are doing in life and you get to know people in the community,"Chef David Wodrich, owner and head chef at Third Coast Spice Cafe and Lemon Tree Mediterranean Grill said. "We have done the speed networking events at the restaurant a few times already and each time more and more people show up because they feel connected with everybody."
