Making Valparaiso Sweeter

sticky-fingers-1Valparaiso is a wonderful city. There are lots of cool attractions, unique restaurants, prosperous businesses, the school system is great, and the people are so darn friendly. This town has everything...including a candy store.

Have you been to Sticky Fingers Candy Co. yet? It's a colorful little shop that sits right across the street from the Central Park Plaza on Lafayette Street. About 2 1/2 years ago, owner Jack Hines became the proverbial "kid in a candy store". You may recognize the name Jack Hines as he is also the owner of Hines Plumbing, Inc.

sticky-fingers-2"I wanted to put a candy store downtown because we didn't have one yet and we wanted the downtown area to be as family-friendly as possible," Hines explained. "We have enough bars and restaurants and we need more for the families."

All sorts of sweets can be found at Sticky Fingers from modern day edibles to old school favorites. Snacks like nachos and cold beverages are available for purchase anytime which is perfect after spending the day romping around in the Central Park Splash Pad.

sticky-fingers-3"I grew up around a candy store and I've always wanted to own one since," Hines said. "It's been a life-long dream of mine."

Hines also wanted the business so that jobs for his kids as well as other high school kids would be more plentiful. Kaitlin Coryell, a cashier at Sticky Fingers really likes the work there.

"It's a really chill atmosphere," she said. "I have an awesome boss."
