Dr. Niaz Latif of Pudue University to Speak at the Hobart Chamber’s September Luncheon

Dr-Niaz-LatifDr. Niaz Latif is Professor and Head of the Department of Industrial Technology at Purdue University. Prior to joining Purdue, he was a faculty member and coordinator of Engineering Technology programs at Northern Kentucky University (NKU). At NKU he also served as Director of the Technical Services Institute under the Department of Technology. Dr. Latif has authored/co-authored numerous refereed journal articles and peer reviewed conference proceedings articles and has made national and international conference presentations. His teaching and research interests are in the areas of lean manufacturing, alternative energy, human factors, and computer-aided engineering design. He has developed and taught undergraduate and graduate-level courses and has supervised graduate student projects, in these areas, both at master's and doctoral level. His current research focuses on applied ergonomics in manufacturing, and he supervises graduate student research in the area.

Dr. Latif earned his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia and an M.S. from South Dakota State University; both degrees are in Agricultural Engineering. He holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Chittagong in Bangladesh. He received the 1998 Outstanding Professor of Industrial Technology Award (Region 3) from the National Association of Industrial Technology (NAIT). Dr. Latif served as the Chair of the Executive Board of NAIT. He is a fellow of the Academic Leadership Program under the Committee on Institutional Cooperation of Big 10 Universities.
