UK Ministry of Skills Visits NW Indiana Workforce Development Organization

UK-Ministry-of-Skills-Visits-NW-Indiana-Workforce-Development-OrganizationOn Thursday, February 26th, the Center of Workforce Innovations (CWI) in Valparaiso welcomed three guests from the United Kingdom (UK) Ministry of Skills for an informational meeting related to workforce development.

The British Consulate General’s office in Chicago and the Ministry requested to meet and learn about the efforts in Northwest Indiana related to career pathways development for high skilled vocational workforce entrants. Guests included Chipo Nyambuya, Vice Counsel of Innovation & Economics with the British Consulate General in Chicago and Heather Miller and Andrew Batterbee with the Pathways to Higher Learning at the Department for Business Innovation & Skills in London.

Areas of interest from the UK guests, were post high school vocation learning and particularly where a great degree of innovation or employment engagement were involved, as well as on the engagement of business and their role in the preparation of the workforce, and the overall community college movement.
