Strack & Van Til of Hobart is Stocked and Ready to Rock

Following the examples of sister stores in Munster, Highland, and Schererville, the Strack & Van Til of Hobart just underwent some big changes. A grand reopening was held on October 14, 2015 to celebrate the hard work that was put into the renovations and the bright future that was ahead for the store and everyone who frequents it.

Many gathered to be part of the exciting day. The Hobart Chamber of Commerce, community leaders, staff and board members of Strack & Van Til, and more happily celebrated the store’s special occasion. The event was kicked off by the lovely voices of the River Forest Women’s Choir with “When You Believe” and the “National Anthem”. Following this, Kevin Grace, Store Director for the Hobart location, stepped up to the podium to speak.

“It’s a fantastic store, right?” Grace exclaimed, his response met by hearty applause. “In this store we believe in customer service. It’s a fantastic building, but if we didn’t have customer service then it wouldn’t have happened, so I thank you for making this dream a reality… We work with a great community. The community has been great to us and we work with the schools, the local businesses and organizations, and we want to let you know that we will continue to be great partners and stewards of the community.”

The Hobart Strack & Van Til was built in 1989 in a farm field. Time passed and more people came into the area. Upgrades were made to the store, things were added to fit the tastes of the patrons, and now the offerings are even greater. The floral, produce, deli, bakery, and more were expanded upon without shrinking or removing any items or sections from the store.

A Hobart High School student from 1942 was recently hired and in attendance at the grand reopening. Yohan Petrovich, Hobart High School’s mascot, stood at the ready, name badge and all, to serve his community.

“I want to say how proud I am of this store and what we’ve accomplished with construction and merchandising, to the operations team and store team, and to the community. Our store has had an amazing transformation and I couldn’t be more proud of being part of this store,” Ken Bair, Director of Center Store said.

Two checks were presented for $500 each to the Hobart Family YMCA and the Maria Reiner Senior Center. Both of these organizations are paramount to the betterment of the Hobart community and Strack & Van Til, Town & Country Fresh Food Market, and Ultra Fresh Foods are always into supporting those who support their communities. A check for $250 was also given to River Forest High School for their hard work in the community from Strack & Van Til, Town & Country Fresh Food Market, and Ultra Fresh Foods.

“I just wanted to say how much the City of Hobart appreciates Kevin Grace and Strack & Van Til," Hobart Mayor Brian Snedecor said. "Every time the Chamber has needed a partner to help them, Strack & Van Til has answered the call, and is with the help of Kevin and his vision in the community... Thank you for all the leadership from this organization and your investment in our community."
