Ultra Foods of Highland Celebrates Grand Re-Opening

Ultra Foods just celebrated its grand re-opening in mid-December 2015. It is the newest addition to the list of renovated stores under the Strack & Van Til LLC name, and now it is able to serve the Highland community even better with new offerings in addition to the things that customers already loved at Ultra Foods.

The renovations took six and a half weeks to complete, half of the actual projected time that was expected. Everyone at Ultra Foods knew how important it was to get things done quickly so that they could continue to provide the top-notch customer experience to their community that they are known for.

“We haven’t had an upgrade since 1998 and we’ve had customers asking for some new things,” Dave Peksenak, Store Director for Ultra Foods of Highland said. “We were able to add in more organic items and gluten free items and a lot of other things while keeping our prices the same. The reactions have been great. We’ve gotten great comments and feedback from our customers, and we’re where we need to be to compete and move forward.”

A huge crowd gathered by the entrance to the store to be part of the exciting occasion. The traditional long red ribbon was held by the Ultra Foods crew, Strack & Van Til LLC personnel, snipped by Peksenak, and followed by hearty cheers. Everyone who attended proceeded to check out the new offerings within the store.

Customers will be able to enjoy an expanded organics section as well as beer and wine section, additions to the deli there is new signage around the store to add to the beautification, a new hot wing bar and sushi bar, new coolers and freezers to keep food fresh and delicious… and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many other things that the Ultra Foods customers will get to enjoy.

To add to the festivities, John Vincent, famous for singing the National Anthem at Packers, Cubs and Bulls games, came and kicked off the grand re-opening with his rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner”. three checks were presented to individual organizations at the amount of $500 each from Strack & Van Til, Ultra Foods, and Town and Country Market. The recipients were: The School Town of Highland where they will use the funds for scholarships, the Highland Fire Department, and Operation S.O.S. (Operation Support Our Servicemembers) – a nonprofit organization that sends care packages to our troops overseas throughout the year.

“It’s important that our customers know that the things that they loved are still here, we just added to it with the new renovation,” Chris Bengtson, Vice President of Public Relations of Strack & Van Til said. “This is appealing to customers who are looking for more than traditional offerings. There is always something going on and something new happening and not every store is going to be the same. We do what needs to be done based on the desires pf the different communities.”
