2016 Home Builders Association of Northwest Indiana Home and Lifestyles Show

This weekend at the Porter County Expo Center is the Home & Lifestyle Show, with many vendors for anyone with thoughts of spring projects. Consumers looking for information can find plenty of it here, with bonus freebies. From local to national companies, there is plenty to see and do. We spoke to a couple about why they decided to come to the show. “We’re looking for ideas for an outdoor patio. “ They didn’t have a favorite booth as they were just getting started, but they were enjoying the popcorn.

There are fun games to play for prizes, goodie bags, and even the Easter Bunny is at the Peoples Bank booth for photos with the kids. Peoples Bank is having a fun Easter Bunny photo contest for the kids, with a fun filled Easter Basket as the prize! They have a drawing for an adult basket as well!

This event is also about connecting with the community. Ben Newland of Overhead Door spoke to us about why vendors and consumers like the show. “People like to come in here, and like to see your brand and communicating with us. And like wise for us with the customers.”

We also spoke with Cindy Oakley of Culligan, who told us about a project she is working on to get children more involved in drinking more water. May is “Drink More Water” Month, and she hopes to work with schools on this project. An article from CNN states that “More than half of children and teenagers in the United States might not be properly hydrated, according to a nationwide study from the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. In fact, 54.5% of the students in the study qualified below their minimum daily water intake” (http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/15/health/kids-teens-water-dehydration-summer/).

So, while thought of spring are in the air, with spring comes rain. With a rainy weekend in the forecast, why not head to the Porter County Expo Center and the Home and Lifestyle show for ideas and fun?
