1st Source Bank Recognized as Company of the Year at the 2016 United Ways and Fund Awards Banquet

1st Source Bank was recently recognized as United Way of Porter County’s Company of the Year at the 2016 United Ways and Fund Awards banquet in Indianapolis.

This award honors outstanding companies in a community that have voluntarily taken the lead in community service and support.

“It was a pleasure to nominate 1st Source Bank as Company of the Year,” said Kim Olesker, president & CEO of United Way of Porter County. “Their volunteerism and leadership in Porter County has been invaluable.”

Nominated for their dedication to service, 1st Source Bank and its employees have supported the community through events such as United Way’s Day of Caring and an Opportunity Enterprises clean-up day and luncheon with their clients. In addition, their United Way giving increased 116% over last year. 1st Source has 10 branches and 85 employees in Porter County.

In 2015, 1st Source also provided a $12,000 grant to expand the Porter County Kinder Kamp program from 2 classrooms to 5 in Portage and Valparaiso. Kinder Kamp is a 5-week pre-K readiness program for children without preschool training to prepare for kindergarten learning.

In 2016, they will begin supporting United Way of Porter County’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program by training their employees to be certified volunteer tax preparers.
