International honor society recognizes business excellence IUN_Dean_Rominger_BGS-Key

The IU Northwest School of Business and Economics was recently named as a Premier Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society recognizing business excellence.

The award was presented to the school’s Dean, Anna Rominger, at the Mid-Continent East Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB) meeting on October 12, 2010.

This award recognizes the School’s extra efforts to ensure that all students who are awarded membership in this international business honor society, based on the excellence of their scholarship, elect membership and reap the benefits of lifetime admission to this society,” Rominger said.

To qualify for this award, at least 85 percent of the students nominated for membership in Beta Gamma Sigma must accept lifetime membership in the organization.

More than 90 percent of students nominated for membership from the IU Northwest School of Business and Economics accepted this honor in the past year.

In order to be nominated for membership into Beta Gamma Sigma, an undergraduate student in the next to last year or final year of work must rank in the top 10 percent of their class, or a graduate student must rank in the top 20 percent of their academic class. Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition any business student in the world can achieve.

Beta Gamma Sigma chapters can only be housed on the campus of schools that hold an AACSB accreditation.

IU Northwest remains the only public business program in Northwest Indiana to carry AACSB accreditation, a benchmark of quality attained by only five percent of business schools worldwide.
