Boy Scouts Dunes Moraine District Seeking District Chair

Boy-Scouts-Prepared-for-LifeBoy Scouting in the Dunes Moraine District is seeking a volunteer to serve as the District Chair beginning May 1, 2012.

Nominated by the District Nominating Committee and elected at the District’s annual business meeting in April. Reports to the La Salle Council Executive Board.

  1. Lead, train, motivate and inspire the key operating committee chairs. Ensure chairs and committee members attend District Committee Meetings and the appropriate Council level meetings to represent the District. Recruit and appoint volunteers as needed.
  2. With the support of the District Executive, plans and preside at monthly District Committee Meetings on the 1st Tuesday of each month and attend Roundtable meetings (2nd Tuesday of each month) whenever possible.
  3. Work closely with the District Executive and District Commissioner as a Key Three.
  4. With the support of the District Executive and District Commissioner, establish District goals with completion dates. The youth membership, finance and training goals are particularly critical. Work with Committee Chairs to ensure that all District goals are met.
  5. Administer the business of the District in accordance with the Charter, By-Laws, Rules and Regulations of the BSA.
  6. Represent the District at all Council Coordinated meetings (2-3 times per year) and Council Executive Board Meetings (every other month).
  7. Register with the BSA.
  8. Take Youth Protection Training immediately and position-relevant training as needed and available.
  9. Become a Friends of Scouting member.

Term of Office: 1 year and can be re-elected
