There’s more great news for real estate in both Porter and Lake County, reports Jeanne Sommer, broker/owner of CENTURY 21 Alliance Group in Valparaiso, IN.
The latest real estate market data from Northwest Indiana Association of Realtors show a higher number of sales from January 1 to August 31 this year versus the same time period last year for both counties. In addition, the days a property is listed on the market are down slightly from last year and sale prices are higher for both counties as well.
In summary, more homes are selling, in a shorter amount of time, for higher prices, which all amounts to good news for sellers, said Sommer. “It’s really a good time to sell now. Conditions haven’t been ideal for selling, but now the market is turning around.”
The news is still good for buyers too. With interest rates near record lows, the window is open still if you’re looking to buy a home, added Sommer.
