Meet Kathy Jacobs: Real Estate Agent, Mom, Grandma, Longtime Valparaiso Resident

Kathy-JacobsCENTURY 21 Alliance Group agent Kathy Jacobs always is hard at work, helping families find the perfect home in Northwest Indiana, caring for her own family and giving back to her community.

Jacobs began her real estate career when she took a position at CENTURY 21 Alliance Group working at the front desk. Her youngest child recently had entered first grade and she was looking for a part-time job so she could still be there for her children. Jacobs eventually decided to get her real estate license in October 2002 and has been an agent at CENTURY 21 Alliance Group for nearly 11 years.

Her favorite part of her job as an agent is matching her clients with the perfect home. “I like helping people find a home and being a part of something so important in their lives,” she expressed.

A resident of Valparaiso for the past 18 years, Jacobs says moving to Valparaiso from Illinois is the best thing her family could have done. “I can always relate to the buyers moving here from Illinois,” Jacobs said. “Valpo is a great town to raise children and it is a wonderful place to live.”

Jacobs feels it’s important to give back to the community she loves so much. Each year she enjoys participating in CENTURY 21 Alliance Group’s project for United Way of Porter County’s Day of Caring. “We have a great group that always gets involved,” she said. “It is a great feeling when you can help someone.”

She also belongs to a group of women at St. Paul's church called Oasis Club that raises money throughout the year to be given away to different groups in the community every May.

Family is very important to Jacobs. Her and her husband Bob have been married for 25 years and the couple has three children: Lindsay, 23, who is married to the couple’s son-in-law, Keith; Lauren, 21 and Bobby, 18 and two grandchildren: Reid, who is almost 4 years old, and Evie, who is almost 4 months.

Jacobs is always a mom at heart. When asked about her hobbies, Jacobs responded that she loves watching her kids play competitive golf and will miss driving them to their tournaments when Bobby graduates high school this year. “I think I will have to make more road trips to watch him play college golf,” she laughed.

She also added, “Spending time with the grandkids is very important to me.” A familiar face in the office, her grandson Reid loves helping his grandma with her work.

For Jacobs, a career in real estate has been a good to fit for her lifestyle. “Having this job as a real estate agent has been great for me because I could still be there for my family and help people find a home to raise their families,” she said.
