Gregory Named Interim Director of SBDC

Business advisor Bill Gregory is taking over leadership of the Northwest Indiana Small Business Development Center as interim director.

Former Regional Director LeAnn McCrum has moved on to another opportunity as she pursues new challenges in her career. “I hope to continue to infuse the SBDC with the same level of energy that LeAnn gave it,” Gregory said. “Our biggest goal is to continue finding innovative and creative resources that will allow more folks to be able to start-up successful small businesses and to grow existing ones to the next level.”

Gregory has more than 30 years of business experience in a variety of management development and training roles. He most recently was executive director of the Center for Management Development at Indiana University Northwest.

“I believe my recent experience leading the center - particularly the strong professional relationships I have developed with business, community, academic and not-for-profit leaders - will allow me to make a natural transition to this new role,” he said.

He has been active on the economic and business development and education committees of the Gary Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the board of TradeWinds Rehabilitation Services and on the Ogden Dunes Town Council.

The search for a permanent director is under way and details are available at www.purduecal.edu/hr/employment/.

Serving seven counties in the region, the NWI SBDC offers free assistance for entrepreneurs starting or expanding their businesses. Through one-on-one consulting, the NWI SBDC helps guide small businesses toward their goals by offering referrals, workshops, training opportunities and other essential business tools. It is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Small Business Administration, the State of Indiana and other local partners.
