Ideas in Motion Media Editorial Team Grows with Latest Hire

iimm-editorial-april-2014Last week, the Ideas in Motion Media team grew a little as we brought on our fourth full-time editor, a position that needed to be filled as our longtime editor Karin Woodside moved on to a new position.

After receiving some great resumes and interviewing individuals across a number of industries, we made the decision to hire from within, promoting Cody Morse from our event coverage team to our full-time staff.

Cody had done some great work for us on our event coverage team, writing some impactful Life in the Spotlight pieces and covering some fun events for us. He has shown an ability to adapt on the fly and still come away with a great piece of content, and we’re excited to have him on board with us in a more concrete role as our processing editor.

“Like many people, I’ve bounced around from customer service jobs to retail jobs, but I’m happy to say that I’ve finally landed somewhere that’s in my wheelhouse,” Cody told me. “Being the new Processing Editor for Ideas In Motion Media is very exciting for me for a few different reasons. For example, I’ve always had a detail-oriented mindset, and this position definitely uses that aspect in every way imaginable.”

Jon Groth, director of the Porter County Career and Technical Center, where Cody took some classes, also happily gave Cody a strong recommendation. “I always thought Cody was a very thoughtful, inquisitive student. He acted older than his age, and he always seemed comfortable talking to me. I enjoyed our discussions about current movies. I thought he was very astute about films and I enjoyed hearing his perspective on films we had both seen. I think he will fit in well with the innovative Ideas in Motion team,” he said.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve spent most of my time behind a computer screen. Whether it was editing a video, writing, or playing a game in my leisure time, I’ve always felt at home with that digital glare illuminating my glasses. Now, I’m finally getting paid for it,” Cody continued. “Aside from that, all the people at the Ideas In Motion office are some of the friendliest people I’ve ever known. It makes for a great work environment. I’m so proud to be a part of the Ideas In Motion Editing Team!”

Personally, I am excited at the direction our editorial team is headed. Playing to Cody’s strengths in knowing our system and quickly and aptly getting articles published will allow two of our more compelling story tellers in Tim Moran and Caitlin Vanlaningham to go out and tell more of the great stories taking place in the region.
