Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County Names New Unit Director of the Valparaiso Unit

Christine-Fuller-HeadshotRyan Smiley, President of Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County announced Christie Fuller as the new Unit Director of the Valparaiso Club, replacing long-time Unit Director Dan Welch who was promoted to Director of Programs and Outcomes in May 2014.

“We are excited to have Christie as part of our Boys & Girls Club team. Our organization had an extensive search to find the right person for our Valparaiso Club, and Christie really proved to be an excellent candidate choice for this position. We are excited for her to lead this Club and bring her perspective to our Club family,” states Ryan Smiley, president of Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County.

Christie Fuller has a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Intervention Child Development and a Master of Science degree from Purdue University Calumet in Human Development and Family Studies. She is trained in administering mental health assessments and approaches to use when working with families. Fuller began her career working for Regional Mental Health as a child case manager – working with a variety of families including voluntary, court-ordered, and probation cases, as well as training employees in the field and on family situations likely to be faced. She then worked for Head Start as a Lead Teacher in a classroom for 3 to 5 year old children. Her responsibilities in this position included managing the classroom, completing case management paperwork, and interacting with the families of her students. She is excited to bring new ideas to help the Club grow and meet the needs of youth residing in Valparaiso. She is married to Brett and they have one dog, Max.

Currently Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County operates four Club units in Valparaiso, Portage, South Haven, and Chesterton; manages a Club operation in Culver, IN; and operates Kidstop sites nine school locations.
