“Chris brings a unique portfolio of experience including facilities management, financial oversight, and team leadership. He has a B.S. in Kinesiology from Arizona State University, a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Regis University and the YUSA Organizational Leader certification,“ announces Bob Wanek CEO of the Valparaiso Family YMCA. Chris Aungst joins the Y this week as the Chief Operating Officer.
Chris also brings experience from the Monroe County Y in Bloomington, Indiana, the Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District in Fort Bragg, CA, and the Portage YMCA. Chris says that he feels blessed to have started at a “cause driven Y in Bloomington Indiana”. It gave him a wonderful foundation of what the Y stands for and the value a Y adds to the community in which it serves. This commitment will be felt in his energy and the way he relates to Valparaiso Family Y staff and community. “I am very excited to be part of a thriving YMCA with great people, facilities and services. I’m looking forward to helping advance the Y cause and impact more lives through our focus areas of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.”
Chris and his wife, Holly and their two boys are thrilled to be back in the Midwest and love Valparaiso. As the new COO, he is anxious to start building relationships with the staff and members at the Y and putting his ideas to work.
