Opportunity Enterprises is proud to announce Nicole Nelson as Director of Social Services. Nelson began her journey at Opportunity Enterprises in 2009. Since then, Nelson has enriched the social services department of OE by driving policy to support and enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities. Opportunity Enterprises works to maximize self-sufficiency and enrich the quality of life for individuals with disabilities.
As Social Services Director, Nelson will manage the Social Services department to include the advocacy and coordination of services for clients of OE while ensuring compliance with agency policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations.
Nelson received her degree in psychology from Purdue.
“I am thrilled and grateful that I found a field where I can utilize my degree and be absolutely in love with my job and the work that I do. It’s rewarding beyond anything else,” said Nelson.
Nelson will lead various multi-dimensional teams, assess psycho-social needs of persons served and effectively coordinate with other departments within the organization.
“Social services as a whole, can be seen as a direct service for the entire agency. Everything we do is in the best interest of our clients. For every decision that I make, I always have the client’s best interest at heart. I consider their rights and their privacy, every step of the way,” she said.
Nelson also serves as a trainer at orientation for newly hired OE employees, where she administers classes on procedures, policies and privacy protocols.
“My job is to inform our new employees on our policies and procedures. We want to teach them how to protect our clients by making the right decisions at the right times. The topics are heavy, because you are affecting someone else’s life in several ways”, she said.

She has extensive knowledge of state and agency policies and most importantly, has great passion for the wellbeing of our clients."
