VNA of NWI Names Erica Kerkes as Hospice Volunteer Coordinator

The VNA of NWI announced today that Erica Kerkes will serve as the VNA Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, following the retirement of Rudelle Crowley in April who served in that position for 17 years.

Prior to joining the VNA of NWI, Kerkes served for two years as the volunteer coordinator at Campagna Academy and has been an active community volunteer through the years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication degree from Purdue University Northwest.

Kerkes says she loves the energy volunteers bring to her day.

“I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to work as the Hospice Volunteer Coordinator at the VNA of NWI. It takes a special type of person to work in the Hospice environment,” she says, “and I am already struck by the commitment I have seen from the volunteers here. Some have been dedicated to this cause for more than 20 years! I am looking forward to learning from them and growing with them.”

VNA Hospice volunteers will have the opportunity to meet Kerkes at an open house on Thursday, June 21, from 3-5 pm at the VNA of NWI Administration building.

VNA Hospice volunteers serve in a variety of ways, including patient support, Hospice Center, Memorial Services, Bereavement support, Pet therapy, Hospice Choir, handcrafting blankets, and baking.
