WVLP is Officially Broadcasting in Their New Location

WVLP 103.1 is officially in their new spot at the One Center Street Building on Lincolnway. Their first day on air was May 2, 2016 at 10am with the voice of Greg Farrall in his financially geared show, Money Matters.

The move was months in the making and multiple people stepped up to make sure that the new space was ready and looking fine. Since 2002, WVLP occupied their old location and when space opened up in the Valparaiso Technical Building Paul Schreiner, Founder of WVLP, thought that it was a great opportunity. He as well as the rest of the radio’s crew and some handy volunteers helped to fix the space up.

“We got all of our permits and paperwork done, we got the place framed out, power washed it, did some demo work, and it’s all ready to go,” Gregg Kovach, Executive Director of WVLP said. “We’re very happy with our new home and we’re excited to continue doing what we love here at WVLP.”

WVLP-move 2WVLP will be sharing the Tech Building with great local businesses like We Create Media, Bella Photography, and others.

“We are happy with the new space and hope to establish relationships with the other tenants of the ‘Tech’ building. We hope our presence there will attract other creative endeavors to the building,” Schreiner said.

Lots of people put in time and effort to make the move a success. Brian Thevanin is WVLP’s IT guy and he took it upon himself to make sure that all of the electronics were in place, hooked up, and ready to go. Mike Echterling made the table that all of the radio equipment sits on as well as rack mounts in the studio.

WVLP-move 1Speaking of equipment, not only did WVLP move to a new location, the radio station also got some new equipment. Two new Comrex modems now have them running digitally instead of analog. This makes the station’s sound better and the reach further.

“We run things a certain way here and we wanted to continue to do it a certain way, but better,” Kovach said. “Thanks to these modems we are reaching more people in a larger area, and we have better sound quality.”

Congratulations to WVLP for this great move in the right direction! For more information on WVLP, visit http://www.wvlp.org/.
