Cinco De Mayo Celebration with Dance

The Spanish students at Valpo High School hosted a troupe of dancers to honor and celebrate the Mexican history and culture of Cinco De Mayo through song and dance. The dance instructor took the students through three different states of Mexico: Puebla, Chiapas and Jalisco.

Each state was represented by a different style of dance, yet every dance maintained a definitive Mexican feel with the respective boot stomping, dresses flying and brass playing.
She ended by encouraging the students to get involved in the culture through dance, saying, "Once you learn these dances and once you hear the music, wherever you're at, your feet will never stop moving, because it's in you."

True enough, Joseph Rodea, a Spanish teacher at VHS played La Bamba before they all left, and the students couldn't help but move and sing.
