CMS Students Build Shelters

CMS-Students-build-sheltersChesterton Middle School seventh grade students Bailey Martinson, Erin Storey, Maddie Bunger and Sammie Disney used survival techniques they learned in class to build one of the best shelters during a recent trip the Indiana State Dunes Park using fallen limbs and leaves.

CMS 7th grade S team members visit the Dunes to learn about geographical landscapes, erosion, weathering, succession activities, measurement of an area, use of a compass, and how to adapt to our surroundings/environment. All concepts taught in social studies, science, and math.

Students use what they learned in class out in the field at the Dunes. In addition to several activities, students learned about team building skills in the process.
