vhs-logoValparaiso High School was placed on lock down for about an hour today after the school received an anonymous phone call at 12:30 p.m. indicating “a device was placed somewhere in the school,” according to an audio message sent from Superintendent Mike Berta to parents of students enrolled in the school.

“The administrative staff placed the school into lock down and Valparaiso Police joined Valparaiso High School staff in searching the interior and exterior of the facility,” the message said.

No device was found, and when it was deemed everyone was safe, the lockdown ended at approximately 1:30 p.m.

“Appropriate actions were taken and all are safe,” Berta said.
