High School Senior Affirmation Night at Purdue Calumet 10/8 for 21st Century Scholars

PUC-LogoSenior Affirmation Night for 21st Century Scholars will be held at Purdue University Calumet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8 in Rooms 103 and 107 of the Gyte Building.

Senior Affirmation Night is offered to ensure that 21st Century high school senior scholars understand what they must do during their final year of high school to enroll in college and maintain eligibility to earn a 21st Century Scholarship.

Affirm honoring 21st Century Scholars Pledge
During Senior Affirmation Night, participating high school seniors are provided an affirmation form, which must be completed and signed with a parent/guardian present. Doing so affirms that students have honored the 21st Century Scholars Pledge.

To earn a college scholarship and free support services, 21st Century Scholars commit to maintaining at least a 2.5 grade point average (4.0 scale); remain drug, alcohol and crime-free; and enroll in college as a full-time student within one year of their high school graduation.

Informed about important deadline, procedures
The students also will learn about important deadlines and procedures for completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All 21st Century Scholars must complete the FAFAS by March 10 of their senior year in high school to be eligible to receive a 21st Century Scholarship.

Indiana’s 21st Century Scholars Program was introduced in 1994 to enable every qualified Indiana student the opportunity to earn a college degree. The program offers income-eligible students beginning in seventh grade up to four years of paid tuition at an eligible Indiana college or university following their high school graduation.

At least 330 21st Century Scholars attend Purdue Calumet.
