2014 Porter County Community Foundation Hosted A Night at the Improv to Support @PCgivingproject

A fun night of drinks, friends and an Improv show was in store at Strongbow Inn with A Night at the Improv on Friday night. Organized by the Porter County Community Foundation, this event served as a friend raiser and fundraiser for the @PCgivingproject. The event helped raise money for this special project.

This mission of the @PCgivingproject is simple, they aim to inspire young philanthropists through the power of collective giving to invest in the future of Porter County. The goal is to raise money to give annual grants for charitable initiatives that support innovative education and youth development programs that serve children and youth.

“We want to inspire people to get involved in philanthropy at a younger age with the @PCgivingproject.  The @PCgivingproject will show people that it’s not the size of the gift that matters, but if we each can do something, this collective giving and spirit can make an impact in our community,” Community Resource Director, Carol Costakis said.

Indiana Beverage provided over 10 different beers to taste and Old World Market provided the wine to go with the food served at the cocktail portion of the event where guests mingled and had a good time.

“We have done a lot of focus groups and surveys on how to get younger families and generations involved in Porter County. Through our work, we realized people our age are raising families, are busy with work, and just don't have the time. We came to the conclusion that we were going to start a fund for the greatest need we saw in our county, innovative education and youth and child development. Tonight we are handing out a grant that will go to a non-for-profit and an endowment,” Committee Chair of the event, Laura Campbell said.

After the cocktails, the guests were invited to sit down and watch a Chicago based Improv group that got people involved and offered up a good laugh.

“What we need to do is look ahead to the future of our county to figure out ways that we can improve the future for not only our lives, but for our kids lives. Through events like this, I think we can do some things that benefit the future of our county for years to come,” Manager at Laciak Accounting Group and committee board member, Geoff Laciak said.

With the help of their sponsors and the support of the community, @PCgivingproject will aim to help fund innovative education and development not only now, but continuing in the future as well.
