Washington Township Middle School Academic Teams had an outstanding performance at the LaPorte Area Competition on Saturday, May 2nd winning three subject areas in class 4 while placing second and third in two other areas. Moreover, Washington Township Middle School is home to the 2015 Class 4 Social Studies State Champions and three other top 10 finishes in the Class 4 State Competition.
Team Senator's Social Studies Team made up of Jordan Sheets, Jenn Cahillane, and Tyler Peters won both class 4 area title and were crowned State Champions with a score of 23. This was Washington Township's 3rd State Championship in the last 4 years. Furthermore, Washington Township Middle School's Academic Teams have combined to win 9 State Championships in 10 years. Washington Township has won at least one subject area for the past 8 years. The Science Team won the Class 4A Competition, Mathematics placed 2nd and The English Team 3rd. With their outstanding performance at the LaPorte Area competition, Washington Township Middle School placed first overall in total questions answered correctly. This was Washington Township's 7th consecutive year placing in the Top Ten Overall. No other school in the state of Indiana can lay claim to such an achievement.
