Mental-Health-America-Porter-CountyWhether it’s primary, secondary or even college education; starting school can be a sudden and drastic change in a child, teen or young adult’s life. Here are some helpful tips for dealing with your first few weeks of school:

1. Expect to feel overwhelmed and know that you are not alone.

2. Sleep is vital! Recharge your body by cutting down on the caffeinated beverages and getting at least eight to nine hours of sleep each night.

3. Set aside a certain time each day devoted to studying. Studying with other classmates can help you meet people and get better grades.

4. Set realistic academic goals for yourself.

5. Make sure to eat breakfast every day! Skipping breakfast can make kids feel tired, restless, or irritable.

In conclusion, with the right preparation; school can be a fun experience that both prepares you for your future and gives you the opportunity to make life-long connections and friends. The key is to be responsible, maintain good mental, physical and emotional health, and to seek help when you need it!
