Guests from around Porter County came to share their love of reading for the third annual Read Across America Day. Coaches, pilots, judges, and community helpers filled the hallways as they made their way to eagerly awaiting children.

Mrs. Shane's kindergarten class was welcomed by not one, not two, but 8 firemen from the Valparaiso Firehouse #2! The firemen surrounded the 19 students as they told stories of firehouses, fire dogs, and fire cats. The busy men spent time answering questions about their job and even showed the children their fire truck and other equipment. "Fireman Eric was a good reader, he could read upside down!" said kindergartner Ivory Campbell. "I liked looking at all the hoses and axes," added Phillip Swigon.

Saint Paul School has recently opened enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year. Openings are available in K-8th grade classrooms. Those interested in a tour or more information should visit the website www.stpaulvalpo. org, contact the school at 219-462-3374, or email the principal at jscupham@stpaulvalpo.org.
