Purdue Day of Giving Highlights Student and Alumni’s Pride in Purdue Northwest

In Northwest Indiana, pride is part of the fabric of our culture. We take pride in the work we do, the homes we’ve earned, and the lives we lead.

This sense of community and familial pride in who we are and what we do in The Region is no different for Purdue Northwest and the aptly named groups of students, faculty, and alums that all combine to make up the PNW Pride.

And today’s Purdue Day of Giving is a manifestation of that pride; pride in the school, the community, and most importantly in the students who go to school every day and are proud to call themselves a member of the Pride.

“I have a lot of PNW pride,” PNW Freshman, Tom Januchowski, told IIMM during the Day of Giving. “The business program here is AASCB certified, which means I get to work with professors who are trained to lead me in the right direction.”

Many of these students at Purdue Northwest will someday join the Northwest Indiana working community as well, and when they do, they will with a degree from a university that gives them the training and resources necessary to make a lasting difference in our community.

“It is really a good feeling knowing I will be entering the workforce with a prestigious Purdue degree,” Junior, David Bork, added. “Ever since I was young, I dreamed of getting a degree from Purdue and knowing that I will from a school right here in Northwest Indiana is a dream come true.”

And those who have earned their degree through Purdue Northwest’s former Calumet and North Central schools, agree.

“An education at Purdue Northwest gave me the opportunity to get a big school education on a smaller campus with professors who knew me by name,” Calumet alumni, Ben Newland, said. “But most importantly the school provided me with real-world experience through experiential learning that helped me when I was looking for a job after graduation.”

Schools helping students, students helping their communities, a beautiful symbiotic relationship all stemming from one common value: pride.
