Ben Franklin Middle School Host Math Competition for Region Middle Schoolers

Ben_Franklin_Middle_School_Host_Math_Com-1On Thursday evening, May 19, mathletes from around the area took part in the first annual Ben Franklin Middle School Math Competition. Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders from Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, St. Paul, Chesterton, Willowcreek, Wheeler, and Taft arrived at BF more than ready for some fierce competition as students from each grade went head-to-head with a 50-minute, 50 question math exam loaded with questions that would make the average person squirm.

BF and TJ teams owned second and third place at each grade level, with TJ’s sixth grade edging out BF with 314 points to BF’s 293, while Ben Franklin’s seventh and eighth graders grabbed second, 259 to 225, and third, 368 to 346. Chesterton took the title in the end, earning first place at each grade level and also winning the all-around. BFMS took second place all-around, and TJ third, earning both schools some shiny new trophies to display proudly in their buildings.

Congratulations to all participants on a job well done!
