Northwest-Communication-Consulting-to-Participate-in-Heart-Walk-2016Northwest Communication Consulting, a not-for-profit consulting firm, will participate in the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk on Sept. 17.

The Heart Walk will take place at the Lake County Fair Grounds in Crown Point, Ind. The walk is scheduled to start at 8 a.m.

Stephanie Hamilton, director of sales for NCC, said members of NCC are participating in the Heart Walk to give back to the community.

“We figured this would be a great way to come together as a group and support others as well. Also, there are a few members in our firm that have personal connections with heart disease,” Hamilton said.

Cain Buchmeier, Chair of NCC, said he is walking because heart disease runs in his family.

“I wanted to do something about the cause. Heart disease hits close to home and anything I can do to help with that I am interested in,” Buchmeier said. “I’m looking forward to the team to go out and have fun and come support a good cause.”

Hamilton is also participating in the heart walk due to it affecting her family, as her grandmother suffers from heart disease.

“She's the strongest person I know. She has had three open heart surgeries and possibly will need a fourth one. She's had her mitral valve replaced three times,” Hamilton said. “In the near future she will need her aortic valve replaced. Her family had a history of Heart Disease so I want to represent my family. It's difficult seeing someone you love go through that. I want to be able to support her as much as I can. The Heart Walk is a perfect way to do that.”
