Valparaiso University Receives $1.4 Million Endowed Commitment to Support College of Business

rot1Valparaiso University alumna Deborah “Deb” A. Tschetter ’71 Spannraft has generously committed nearly $1.4 million in support of the College of Business.

“I had a wonderful experience at Valpo, and it created a foundation on which I built my career,” Spannraft said.

Spannraft received her bachelor of science in business administration with a major in accounting from Valpo’s College of Business, which will benefit greatly from this endowed gift.

The College is accredited by AACSB International — The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, placing it among the elite 5 percent of business schools worldwide to receive this recognition. The College of Business recently added programs in business analytics and entrepreneurship, and U.S. News & World Report named the College one of the best business programs in the nation in its 2016 rankings.

“We are truly grateful for Deborah’s support of and belief in the University and the College of Business,” said Mark A. Heckler, Ph.D. “By committing endowed support to the College of Business, she has strengthened the College and its students, faculty and programs in perpetuity.”

Spannraft worked for Miller Brewing Company in Milwaukee from 1972 until she retired from her position as director of accounting in 1995. She is a member of Valparaiso University’s Kretzmann Society, which recognizes Valpo donors who have established planned gifts. While a student at Valpo, she was a member of Kappa Tau Zeta and the Business Club.

Valparaiso University recently announced Forever Valpo: The Campaign for Our Future, a $250 million endowment campaign focused on raising permanent support for student scholarships, faculty development and programs that prepare students for lives of leadership and service. Publicly launched on Sept. 23, 2016, Forever Valpo has raised more than $135 million.
