Donors are showing their support for Purdue University Northwest as contributions continue to come in to Wednesday’s (4/26) Purdue Northwest Day of Giving.

The 24-hour opportunity to give to PNW launched Wednesday morning, and donations can be made online at www.pnw.edu/DayofGiving  through 10:59 p.m. CDT (11:59 EDT). Gifts of all sizes are welcomed to support student scholarships, academic programs, athletics and more.

As of 1 p.m., PNW gifts totaled more than $562,000 with more than 271 donations coming in from throughout Northwest Indiana, the state and across the nation.

Regina Biddings-Muro, vice chancellor of Institutional Advancement, thanked everyone who has donated so far for their generosity.

“This Day of Giving provides an exciting and fun way for everyone associated with our university to support PNW, our students and our two vibrant campuses,” Biddings-Muro said. “Each donation will help transform the lives of Purdue Northwest students. We are truly grateful to everyone who has supported Purdue Northwest Day of Giving, and we encourage those who wish to further the impact of higher education in Northwest Indiana to participate before the day ends.”

A convenient way to give The fourth annual Day of Giving involves all Purdue institutions and provides PNW alumni, faculty, staff, parents, students, community members and friends a 24-hour opportunity to give to PNW and to support student scholarships, academic programs, athletics and more. There are several fundraising challenges and opportunities for matching funds to raise even more for PNW.

Last year’s Day of Giving generated $693,515 in support of PNW students and programs.

“Each year the response from our Purdue Northwest supporters to the Day of Giving is stronger and stronger,” Purdue Northwest Chancellor Thomas L. Keon said. “This is an indication of the willingness of people, companies and organizations to invest in the future of the university, our students and Northwest Indiana.”

Donor Generosity Biddings-Muro noted that many PNW alumni, Northwest Indiana corporate partners and national supporters of the Purdue Northwest campuses are significant contributors to the success of Purdue Northwest Day of Giving.

Earlier today, the Milos Family Foundation committed a $100,000 matching gift donation to the Purdue Northwest College of Nursing. The family, bolstered by a family legacy of dedication to health care, is encouraging others to do the same to address the significant demands that will continue to grow in the health care field.

Michigan City-based Duneland Health Council presented a gift of $30,000 to fund scholarships in the College of Nursing. The Council has supported higher education and PNW’s College of Nursing for more than 19 years.

Also today, the Northwest Indiana McDonald’s Owners/Operators (NIMO) announced a $20,000 gift to the university in celebration of the Day of Giving. This is the third consecutive year NIMO has provided funds for the “Future Leaders” scholarship program.
