Student-led Public Relations Firm Selects Munster Police Department As Client

Purdue University Northwest’s student-led public relations firm, Region Communication Solutions, chose to conduct a communication audit on Munster Police Department.

Munster P.D. is comprised of 41 sworn officers utilizing the latest technology and law enforcement equipment. They are dedicated to making Munster one the safest communities in Northwest Indiana.

“After growing up in Munster, I love the idea of working with a local organization,” explained Cassie Obinger, business liaison of RCS. “We hope this partnership will have a positive impact on the community of Munster.”

RCS recently started benchmarking other police departments in the region as well as the best organizations to work for in the country. This allows RCS to compare its client’s communication processes to similar and exemplary organizations.

“We are excited to get started on this audit,” said Sara Komendat, Vice President of Operations. “Our team has collectively been working on this first research method to make sure we start this process the right way.”

In order to complete the communication audit, RCS will use benchmarking, interviewing, focus groups and surveys to gather information. The communication audit will provide Munster P.D. with a better understanding of their communication processes and provide them recommendations in the form of an audit book.

“For each part of the audit, we must ensure our team gathers quality research,” explained Kayla Quattrocki, Vice President of Audit. “We will be able to keep our client as informed as possible and make the appropriate recommendations to improve their communication processes.”
