Duneland Schools Update, March 23, 2018

Farewell Party for Japanese Students
Chesterton High School students hosted a farewell party for five students from Japan this past Monday, March 19. The students are from Zama Sogo High School, Zama Japan. It was the sixth time that a group from this school has visited CHS. The Japanese students stayed with CHS students and their families from March 10-20. The families took the Japanese students to local restaurants, shopping, the Indiana Dunes State Park, Chicago, and more. The Chesterton Middle School Science Olympiad team competed in the State tournament this past Saturday, March 17, at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Front, left to right, coach Theresa Keilman, David Archbald, Hattie Hoham, Abrianna Rodriguez, Gracelyn Perrine, Coryn Rodriguez, Eric Sparks, Peyton Day and Ellie Martz. Back row, Zoe Swanson, Hamza Sahlie, Jackson Fleming, Mark Jewison, Benjamin Rutkowski (holding regional trophy) and Nathan Bunning. The team placed sixth out of 36 teams, Chesterton students placed in the top five in Crime Busters (Zoe Swanson and Hattie Hoham), Disease Detectives (Hattie Hoham and Ellie Martz, Dynamic Planet (Mark Jewison and Peyton Day), Herpetology (Zoe Swanson and Ellie Martz), Optics (Jackson Fleming and Nathan Bunning), Potions and Poisons (Hamza Sahli and Ben Rutkowski, Road Scholar (Ben Rutkowski and Abri Rodrigues), and Wright Stuff (Eric Sparks and Sam Keane) The team qualified for the event by placing second at the Indiana University Regional in February at Indiana University Northwest.

The Duneland School Corporation is excited to announce the release of our new app available now on Google Play and the App Store.

Anyone can download this new app to keep track of what's going on in our schools from day to day. It will be especially helpful for the parents of our Duneland School students, so that they can view information specific to their student, including assignments, grades, lunch account balances and library books. Parents with multiple students in the system, will be able to access information for each of their students.

All users will be able to customize the app to access social media, website news and calendar feeds from one or more of the Duneland schools.
