But students not admitted by Aug. 1 may not have financial aid in place in time for the start of classes 
Indiana University Northwest announced on Monday, July 26, that it would continue to admit fully qualified students to the university up until Monday, Aug. 23, one week prior to the start of fall classes. However, university officials urged prospective students to apply soon or else risk not having their financial aid in place by the time classes begin.
Students should be admitted by Aug. 1 in order to ensure timely processing of their aid packages. Students admitted after Aug. 1 still will be eligible for financial aid, but they may not receive funds to cover books and other expenses prior to the start of classes.
Admissions review may take up to two weeks from the date of application, provided that all necessary credentials, such as transcripts, are made available to the admissions office at the time of application. The IU Northwest Office of Admissions strongly encourages those who can to apply online.
IU Northwest is anticipating record enrollment this year, and applications for admission continue to come in at a brisk pace. As of July 26, student enrollment was up 15 percent over this time last year, and the number of registered credit hours was up 17 percent. In Fall 2009, IU Northwest notched a 17 percent increase in enrollment and set a new record for registered credit hours with nearly 57,000.
Despite such dramatic increases, IU Northwest is prepared to accommodate significant additional enrollment by making the necessary adjustments to class times and room assignments, according to David Malik, Ph.D., Interim Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at IU Northwest. Malik also announced that IU Northwest is making plans for an off-campus parking area with a free shuttle service to and from the campus.
“We are ready for another record year,” Malik said.
IU Northwest will also expand the hours of operation for its library and its food service to make on-campus time more convenient for students, faculty and staff, he said.
The campus has also invested more than $200,000 into purchases of new classroom furniture and will continue to invest in more upgrades this year. Technology investments are also moving ahead to ensure that classrooms and library spaces can fully accommodate Web access, new media, and other learning opportunities for students.
