The Short Story About What We Do

FYB-What-We-DoThe Family & Youth Services Bureau is a private, not-for-profit organization that has been serving Porter County and Northwest Indiana since 1972. The agency operates through a combination of private philanthropy, contracts for service with various departments of the State of Indiana, grants from Porter County government and the Porter County United Way, foundation support and fees for service.

We currently provide the following seventeen services for our community.

Clinical Services: Individual, Group and Family Counseling; Alcohol and Drug Defense program; SMART RECOVERY® program; and Outreach Services to schools and organizations.

Parent and Family Support: Parent Enrichment Program; Fathering Program; Strengthening Families; Family Life Workshop Series; and Adoption Home Studies.

CASA Program: Training community volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates for children.

Prevention and Early Intervention Services: The Tot Shop; The Healthy Families Program; and the Family Connections Program.

Risk Management: This three phase evidencebased program targets chronically delinquent adolescents who are at “high risk” of moving into the adult criminal justice system and incarceration. The program is based on the knowledge that delinquent youth can be more successfully and cost-effectively helped by remaining in the community while receiving appropriate services and sanctions.

All Kids Matter: the initiative to encourage our community to support all our youth.
