Child Care before and after school can be difficult to find that includes healthy choice for activities, food, homework and a central location. The Valparaiso Family YMCA provides solutions for just those problems. Before School Care includes Northview, Central, Cooks Corner, Memorial, Thomas Jefferson, Flint Lake, Parkview, and Hayes Leonard Schools and is from 6am to 8:30am Monday through Friday and Late start Wednesdays. After School Care includes Central, Flint Lake, Northview, Parkview, St. Paul, Thomas Jefferson, Hayes Leonard, Cooks Corner, East Porter County Schools, Morgan Township, Porter-Lakes, and Washington Township Schools and is from school dismissal to 6pm Monday through Friday.
Zumba Mondays is just one of the unique physical activities the YMCA can offer students during after school care. Because the Y has a facility with 2 pools, exercise equipment, playgrounds, soccer fields, basketball courts, and a GA GA pit along with classrooms for other games, the sky is the limit for any kind of physical fitness activities. This keeps the students engaged and active all through the school year.
STEM is Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Beyond. This program is offered through enrichment kits with curriculum to teach preK-12 robotics, electronics, alternative energy, rockets and beyond. Through these hands-on projects and tools it sparks interest and passion in students to pursue the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
Rates are $55 a week with a 2/3 day rate at $40 week. For a Before & After School Combo the rate is $85 a week. There is a 3 day minimum required. For a second child a 20% discount is applied. Please register the Wednesday prior to the week of usage. Registration Fee: $25 Members/$50 Community; Late Registration fee $20 per child.
