Kids Have A Blast At NorthShore Health Centers’ 3rd Annual Easter Eggstravaganza

NorthShore Health Centers held their 3rd Annual Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday to the excitement of kids and families at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County in Portage. The crowd at the continually growing celebration was expected to top last years attendance of around 750 people.

“This is NorthShore Health Centers 3rd annual Easter Egg Hunt and Eggstravaganza,” said Tricia Hall, Director of Marketing at NorthShore. “We’re very fortunate that the Boys & Girls Club donates the building to us. The goal of putting on the event is, number one, to just provide the community and our patients with a fun, exciting and safe place to bring their kids and do an easter egg hunt.”

“The other purpose of the event is to bring people here and share what NorthShore is all about,” Hall said. “NorthShore’s mission and goal is to take care of the community, promote medical prevention and to make sure they have their medical, dental and vision appointments. Some people don’t realize they should be going every six months and that they can work with NorthShore to get insurance if they don’t have it. It’s just another way to engage with our community and remind them that we’re here and we want to make sure that we’re always promoting health and wellness.”

To help NorthShore promote health and wellness and engage the community, organizations like the Boys & Girls Club donated their facility and gave discounts on their services to help the health provider host another exciting, resource-filled celebration.

“Everybody leaves with something whether it’s an Easter basket or certificate for an ice cream cone!” Said Maysha Gonzalez from NorthShore Health Centers. “It’s more organized and we have more characters (Superheroes, Princesses) here this year. We have over 10,000 Easter eggs and around 200 Easter Baskets that we’re giving out to boys and girls.”

“And they all get to play!” said Gonzalez. “They can get their faces painted, balloons, or pictures with the Easter Bunny or one of their heroes. There’s three bouncy castles and an inflatable rock wall here. We’ve really stepped it up. It just keeps getting bigger and better!"

Echoing those sentiments was Michelle Higle, a Family Care Coordinator with NorthShore, who said, “We love our patients and we love our community! It’s so nice to see everyone outside of the Health Centers.”

There to celebrate with NorthShore Health Centers and the community were Abrelle and Octavio Benito from Portage.

“This is our first time at the Easter Eggstravaganza,” said Octavio. “It’s been a great time! It’s for the kids, you know. It’s beautiful and anything for kids is always a nice time.”
