Girl Scouts Win 2016 Popcorn Float Award

Girl-Scouts-Win-2016-Popcorn-Float-AwardThe Girl Scouts of Valparaiso/Washington Twp. area won 1st Place in the Youth Division for their entry in the Popcorn Festival Parade last Saturday. With the theme 'Join Girl Scouts for Adventure," the float depicted a selection of badges and awards Girl Scouts can achieve in many areas of interest such as camping, First Aid, international friendship, Girl Scout traditions and community service.

The float was constructed with popped popcorn, cornmeal, corn kernels, crushed corn, tassels, corn stalks, leaves, and corn silk. Leading off the Girl Scout entry in the parade were Junior Girl Scouts presenting the United States and Girl Scout flags followed by their award-winning float and finishing up with more than 80 Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts and Adults.
