Girl Scouts Celebrate Juliette Low’s Birthday

Girl-Scouts-Celebrate-Juliette-Lows-Birthday-2016On Oct. 31st Brownie Girl Scout Troop 417 from Memorial Elementary School in Valparaiso commemorated founder Juliette Low’s birthday by donating a basketful of baby items to the first baby girl born at Porter Regional Hospital. The 2nd grade troop of Brownies accepted donations from other Girl Scout troops in Valparasio and packed a basket full of newborn baby items such as diapers, blankets, clothes, hygiene products, and toys.

Troop leader Teddi Creekmore and her daughter Emma delivered the basket to Porter Hospital nursery in time for the future Girl Scout to be born just after midnight on Oct. 31st. Juliette Low, founder of Girl Scouting in the United States 104 years ago was born on Oct. 31 and was always excited about celebrating her birthday on Halloween. Girl Scouts throughout the United States celebrate her birthday with parties, service projects, and diversity activities.
