Mother, Daughter Co-chairs Aim to Raise $270K for YMCA Campaign

FlanaginFlanagin’s Bulk Mail Service’s Donna Flanagin and daughter, Monica Decker, are a team in life, business, and the community. As members of the Valparaiso Family YMCA, Flanagin and Decker are just two out of the countless number of members that have access to enjoy all of the amenities that the Valparaiso Y has to offer year-round.

As a non-profit organization, the YMCA wouldn’t be capable of offering their programs to members like Flanagin and Decker - not without support and generosity from the community. When it comes to support, there’s nothing like the amount that the Valparaiso Family YMCA Annual Campaign receives with campaign co-chairs, Flanagin and Decker. The mother daughter duo couldn’t be more ecstatic that they are co-chairs again for the Y, having a goal to raise $270,000 total for this year’s campaign.

Flanagin stated, “Monica and I are so excited to be the co-chairs of this year’s Valparaiso YMCA annual campaign.”

Programs at the Valparaiso Y vary greatly to benefit all, including individuals with special needs and cancer survivors. Programs offer water safety instruction, chronic disease prevention, and so much more.

The donations collected by all the hardworking volunteers that Flanagin and Decker are motivating to participate in the campaign will help to provide reduced memberships for Valparaiso Y and subsidized childcare for low-income families and seniors. The money fundraised will also provide child care and summer camp scholarships to families so that the adults can return to work, knowing that their children are in a safe and nurturing environment.

“The annual campaign raises funds to help support many community programs,” Flanagin explained. “With your donations the YMCA can reach out to so many more people that otherwise would not be able to benefit from these programs. Our goal is to raise $100,000 in the next 6 weeks.”

Over 3,000 community members end up benefiting from the campaign that Flanagin and Decker dedicate their time and effort to, starting February 27 this year.

After the success from last year’s campaign, the Vaparaiso Y is just as happy to see Flanagin and Decker back as co-chairs.

“We are so grateful that Monica and Donna volunteered to be our co-chairs again this year! They were wonderful last year and are always extremely generous,” said Donna Demko, Annual Giving Director for the Valparaiso YMCA. “It’s going to be a great campaign this year with their energy and ideas.”
