State of Emergency Declared in Porter County

PorterCountySheriffLogoThe Porter County Commissioners have declared a State of Emergency for Porter County, IN until further notice. With this declaration from the Commissioners, the Porter County Sheriff's Department has activated their Emergency Snow Plan.

The Emergency Snow Plan means that we will only be responding to emergency calls for service, such as a crash with injury or disturbances. If you are in a minor crash, exchange information with the other driver and come in after the storm to file a report if the damage exceeds $1,000. If you are stuck or slide off the road, call a tow truck service or call dispatch at 219-477-3000 and they will send one to your location.

The Porter County Sheriff's Department is asking the public to stay off the roadways during this State of Emergency. We would also like to remind those citizens living in unincorporated neighborhoods to NOT park their vehicles on the road, or they could be ticketed and towed.
