Tax Time in Porter County

Porter County tax bills were mailed in the 1st week of April for an on-time 2011 tax bill says Treasurer Mike Bucko

1. Your tax payments will now be mailed to a local Valparaiso, PO Box 2150. Instructions are located in the box on the back right side of each coupon.
2. You will only get 1 tax bill that has two coupons with due dates of May 10, 2011 and November 10th 2011 You may make two payments in May says Bucko
3. Want to Save Money Now? Avoid paying postage in 2011 use E-check FREE and pay on line using your current checking account number at www.porterco.org

4. Bucko is urging taxpayers to go green. Get your tax Bill E-mailed to you in 2012 register at www.sri-taxpayerconnection.com See envelope back or flyer in the envelope
5. Auditor Bob Wichlinski says, “Over 20,000 Pink Homestead Credit Verification sheets were sent out this year because many people didn’t fill them out and return them in 2010
6. Received the pink sheet a second time? Bob says, “Something was unreadable, incomplete, or unsigned by both parties. Send it again please”
7. Assessor Jon Snyder is reminding everyone that the deadline for appeals has passed and Form 11 notices will go out again in the fall of 2011
8. Treasurer Bucko reminds you to Check and read the “C” coupon of your tax bill if you are in the Appeal Process. You may want to make your tax advisor aware of the information. Courtesy letters will go out after the May 10 deadline to remind people with appeals pending of this law. Tax Sale is scheduled for October 26, 2011

Porter County Treasurer’s Office is open Mon-Fri, 8:30am to 4:30pm except holidays. We are closed Good Friday, April 22, 2010.
